Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Frosting

This recipe is a classic. I got it from my bestfriend’s nanny, but adapted it a bit to my taste by adding more chocolate and the frosting… There is never enough chocolate!!!

Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Frosting

Ingredients

  • 200g of dark chocolate
  • 140g of sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 10g of butter
  • 70g of flour
  • 20cl of cream

Instructions

  1. Melt 150g of chocolate in the microwave with a spoon of water, and then add the yolks, the butter and the sugar. Add the flour at last.
  2. Whip the eggwhites until stiff.
  3. Mix very slowly and carefully the chocolate mix with the eggwhites.
  4. Pour in a greased oven tin and bake in a pre-heated oven for 30 min at 170ºC.
  5. To prepare the frosting, melt the rest of the chocolate in the microwave and add the cream. Then spread over the cake.

PS: You can also slice the cake in two layers through the middle and add a layer of chocolate frosting, but in this case, let it cool in the fridge before cutting.
