Ham & Cheese Croissants

Difficulty: difficulty leveldifficulty leveldifficulty level

Preparation time: clock 1h

My mom sent me this recipe and what a great idea! The croissants were awesome, although it said on the recipe to use cottage cheese and I used grounded Gruyère instead. The only think I struggled with was the folding of the croissants so after a while I gave up and just made small pastries. It didn’t change the taste too much…

Zucchini Gratin

Difficulty: difficulty leveldifficulty leveldifficulty level

Preparation time: clock 1h.

This zucchini gratin recipe contains bacon, but you can easily remove it if you prefer the vegetarian variant. It is pretty tasty - of course like everything with cheese - and quite easy. The only trick is to wrinkle the zucchinis, because after boiling them, they are full of water and will release it all while baking. So if you don’t want a zucchini soup for dinner, be careful with that and you should do great!

Gratin Dauphinois

Difficulty: difficulty leveldifficulty leveldifficulty level

Preparation time: clock 1h30.

I think this recipe comes from the French Alps, since it’s the typical dish you would have with a cold weather and after a hard day, similar to Tartiflette and Raclette. The original Gratin Dauphinois is really simple, with only potatoes cooked in milk and cheese. It is also very common to add bacon or more cheese such as Camembert on it. However, this recipe is pretty consistent already on its own, so you wouldn’t want to add more fat if you were trying to control your diet…

Apple & Cinnamon Pie

Difficulty: difficulty leveldifficulty leveldifficulty level

Preparation time: clock 20min.

This was my first time preparing an apple pie ever, although I’ve seen my mom and many other people do it many times. I don’t know I usually think they taste a bit boring, but today I had a few apples to spare so I thought why not? To increase a bit the taste, I decided to add some apple compote and sugar, which is coincidently much easier than preparing the usual eggs and cream filling. The result was really tasty, bu the pie was a bit more wet than expected.
